Information you provide directly:

- Profile information: school, grade level, and other optional details you choose to provide
- Assessment responses: your career interests, work values, skills, and preferences as entered during PathMagnet assessments
Information collected automatically:
- Usage data: pages visited, features used, clicks, and session duration
- Device and browser information: browser type, operating system, and IP address
- Authentication cookies necessary to keep you signed in
What we do NOT collect:
- Social Security numbers
- Financial account numbers or payment information
- Government-issued identification numbers
- Health or medical information
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide personalized career pathway and educational recommendations
- Match your interests, values, and strengths to relevant occupations and programs
- Maintain and improve our matching algorithm and platform features
- Send account-related emails (password resets, important notices)
- Respond to your support requests and inquiries
We will NOT:
- Sell individually identifiable student data to third parties
- Share your data with advertisers or marketing platforms
- Send you marketing emails without your explicit consent
- Use your assessment responses to make automated decisions that significantly affect you without human oversight
3. FERPA & School Integration
PathMagnet is not integrated with any school student information system (SIS). Student accounts are created directly by students, not by schools. Schools are not responsible for PathMagnet's platform or data governance.
Where PathMagnet operates in partnership with educational institutions:
- Individually identifiable student data is never sold or shared with third parties
- We do not disclose education records to third parties without appropriate consent or as permitted by FERPA
- Students and eligible parents retain their rights to inspect and request correction of their data
- School counselors see only their own school's students; district admins see only aggregate data

4. COPPA Compliance
PathMagnet is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete that information promptly.
Users between the ages of 13 and 17 are encouraged to use PathMagnet with parental awareness. Parents or guardians who believe their child has submitted personal information to PathMagnet without consent may contact us at pathmagnet.com/contact to request deletion.
5. Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which operates on SOC 2 compliant cloud infrastructure
- Passwords are hashed using industry-standard algorithms and are never stored in plain text
- All data transmission between your browser and our servers is encrypted using SSL/TLS
- We regularly review our security practices and update them as needed
- Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel who need it to operate and improve the platform
While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You may view your account information and assessment results at any time by logging in
- Correction: You may update your account information through your profile settings
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us
- Export: You may export your assessment results from your dashboard
- Opt-out: You may opt out of any non-essential communications at any time

Data Retention & Account Deletion
- Active accounts: Your data is retained while your account is active
- Account deletion: You can delete your account from your profile settings. All personal data is deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Assessment data: Assessment responses and career matches are deleted with your account
- Aggregate data: De-identified, aggregate statistics (e.g., “35% of students at School X matched Healthcare”) may be retained for school reporting after individual accounts are deleted
7. Cookies
PathMagnet uses cookies in a limited manner:
- Essential cookies: We use session cookies solely to keep you authenticated while you are logged in. These are required for the platform to function.
- We do not use third-party advertising cookies
- We do not track your activity across other websites
- We do not use cookies for retargeting or behavioral advertising
You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but doing so may prevent you from logging in to PathMagnet.
8. Third-Party Services
PathMagnet uses a limited number of trusted third-party services to operate the platform:
- Supabase: Secure database and authentication infrastructure
- Resend: Transactional email delivery (e.g., password reset emails)
- Google reCAPTCHA: Bot protection on our contact form (subject to Google's Privacy Policy)
These services are bound by their own privacy policies and are used solely to provide PathMagnet's core functionality.
